Our History
Our story began with a simple belief that change happens when people decide to act.
The Watervliet Civic Center was founded with a simple purpose: to give local youth a safe, structured place to spend their time. Built on community support and hands-on involvement, the early years focused on creating consistent programs where kids could feel supported, active, and connected.

As community needs grew, so did the Civic Center. New programs were introduced to support families year-round, including before and after school care, youth recreation, and summer programming. Each addition was shaped by what local families needed most—reliable childcare, positive mentorship, and safe spaces for kids to grow.

Today, the Civic Center serves as a trusted resource for Watervliet families, offering recreational, educational, and childcare programs rooted in consistency and care. With a focus on safety, structure, and belonging, the organization continues to support youth development and strengthen the community.

Looking ahead, the Civic Center remains committed to expanding its impact while staying grounded in its mission. By strengthening programs, increasing accessibility, and deepening community partnerships, the goal is clear: continue creating opportunities where every child has the support they need to grow and succeed.

Support our work and help build futures for young people in our community.
